Prostitutes are crazy

Wow. What a night.

It all started the night before when my friend and I got lost downtown and ended up in the parking lot of a place called the Harmony House. It was one of the creepiest places I had seen in a long time. I went home and Googled it to see what it was, and it turns out to be a clinic for homeless people who are too sick to be in the hospital but not sick enough to be on the street.

After that I started reading about the homeless people in Houston. One site said there were over 3,000 homeless kids in my neighborhood alone. I started looking up volunteer positions to go help out since I have a little more free time now. Then I kinda forgot about it and went back to work.

Tonight my friend and I packed a lunch and decided at 4am to go into the worst neighborhood in Houston. I've heard a few stories about people dodging bullets just for being white, one friend almost being raped, etc. I don't know. I guess I was curious.

WOW. In about five minutes three drug dealers and a prostitute ran at our car. We were literally dodging them in the street. The prostitute was actually fronting the car. We quickly turned into the adjacent neighborhood. As we drove down the street we saw boarded up houses with cars in the driveway. Another prostitute ran at our car. Time to turn around, we thought. I had no idea that kind of stuff existed in Houston. I feel like such a bitch for not being more thankful for everything I have.

Anyways, I can't wait to start my volunteer work in my neighborhood.
