On the way home tonight we saw a cop hiding in a bush and it reminded me of this story from seven years ago or so...
When I was 17 I was living in a two bedroom apartment with four other people, so there was five total.
Girls in one room, guys in the other room. Kinda homo on the guys part if you ask me, but only because
of WHO the guys were. So one of the guys was really into cars, he worked on them, spent his spare time
fixing up his car, and even worked at a dealership. There was one car that he really liked, and he had
a hobby where he would go scope out a certain car he liked, write down the (vin?) number that's visible
from the window, then while he was at work he would put the number into a computer and have a key made so he could steal the car.
So one night I go out with him to the Houston Auto Auction and we break in so he can go get the number
off of one of the cars he was planning on stealing. We were there, and he was writing it down while I
just hung out, then one of the night guards spotted us and put the spotlight over where we were. We
ducked and he made it just in time to get the number. Soon, very soon after the spotlight we saw police
lights. We ran around the cars towards the fence trying to find our way out of there, then he found a
camper and told me to get in, so we crawled inside of this RV and hid inside for a good 20 minutes. Once
the lights were far enough away we got out of the camper and jumped the fence.
We never got caught and he did end up stealing the car. I think he always returned them, it was just a
hobby of his. One of those things he would do just because he could.
